I Know What Love Is....
Love is not faultless perfection
Or lustful encounters
It is him…and me…
And a deep-seeded connection
All it is, is a tree…
It’s roots are a friendship
A bond never broken
The reason we never drift apart?
Our roots are interwoven
The trunk is the trust
He’s so gallantly earned
That he’s one of the deserving few
Was a hard lesson to learn
The limbs hold the details
Of our individual lives
Our hopes, goals, and dreams
Reaching out for fulfillment
So different, yet alike
The leaves are the daily, trivial things
Changing color and location
Whether fall or winter,
Summer or spring
The tree may change appearance
It may be blown with the wind
But no ordinary occurrence
Can make this tree break or bend
